Bago dissolves cabinet, retains SSG, principal officers
Gov. Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger has dissolved his cabinet, directing Permanent Secretaries to oversee the affairs of ministries pending the inauguration of new commissioners.
The governor announced the dissolution on Monday during the State Executive Council meeting at the Council Chamber, Minna.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Bago said, “Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has dissolved his cabinet. The farmer governor announced the decision during the State Executive Council meeting at the Council Chamber, Minna.
“He appreciated them for the services they had so far rendered towards the development of the state and wished them the best in their future endeavours.
“The farmer governor, however, said he has retained his Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, and other principal officers in his office.”
The dissolved cabinet was appointed at the inception of his administration in 2023.
