Adamawa Police Arrest Man for Killing 5-Year-Old Boy

The Police Command in Adamawa has arrested a 29-year-old man, Isiaka Hassan, over the alleged killing of a five-year-old boy, Abba Bashiru, in Lamurde Local Government Area of the state.

This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Yola by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Nguroje.

Nguroje said the command received a report from one Hadiza Bashiru of Tingno community that her son was missing and was last seen with the suspect.

“On the strength of the complaint, operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer, Tingno, swiftly carried out an operation which led to the arrest of the said suspect,” he said.

According to him, the suspect confessed to conspiring with an accomplice, who is currently at large, to kill the boy and bury him in a shallow grave.

Nguroje said the body had since been exhumed and taken to hospital for autopsy.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, had directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the case and ensure the arrest of the fleeing accomplice.

“The command reassures members of the public of its commitment to ensure justice is served and calls for continued cooperation in the fight against violent crime across the state,” Nguroje said.
