2027: Buhari’s CPC Bloc Backs Tinubu Re-election

The Buhari Organisation (TBO), the political structure that birthed the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general election.

Led by former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, members of the group visited the President at the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday, where they pledged the unwavering loyalty of the CPC bloc within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Al-Makura, who spoke on behalf of the delegation, commended Tinubu’s leadership in navigating economic challenges, sustaining national stability, and preserving the legacy of their late mentor, former President Muhammadu Buhari.

He stressed that the CPC family, including ex-governors, ministers, lawmakers, women leaders, and party executives, would mobilise across the country to secure Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

“We are with you in loyalty, in person, and in purpose,” Al-Makura said. He described Tinubu and Buhari as visionaries whose partnership laid the foundation of today’s APC. He added that the bloc would work tirelessly to consolidate the President’s reforms and sustain the party’s legacy beyond 2027.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, also reaffirmed the bloc’s solidarity, insisting that over 90 per cent of CPC’s pioneer leaders remain united and loyal. He praised Tinubu for honouring Buhari’s memory and assured the President of unconditional support.

“CPC in every state will go back home and mobilise support for Asiwaju. Insha Allah, CPC members will be at the forefront of ensuring your re-election in 2027,” Abbas said.

In response, President Tinubu expressed gratitude for the support and announced that his administration had surpassed its 2025 revenue target through non-oil earnings as early as August.

He dismissed concerns over external pressures, including developments in the United States, stressing that his focus remains firmly on Nigeria’s progress.

The Buhari Organisation, formed in the early 2000s to project Buhari’s political vision, evolved into the CPC, which contested the 2011 presidential election before merging into the APC in 2013.
