Rep. Kabiru Rurum Distributes 3,000 Bags of Fertilizer to Constituents

Thousands of farmers across Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure Federal Constituency in Kano State received 3,000 bags of fertilizer from their representative, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, over the weekend.

The distribution, which took place in Rano, is expected to reach over 5,000 farmers in the three local governments.

“This is part of my commitment to support our hardworking farmers,” Rurum said. “Every year, we make sure they get fertilizer to help them grow more food and cash crops so they can feed their families and also meet other needs without running into debt.”

He called on farmers to make proper use of the fertilizer. “I want you to take this farming season seriously. Expand your farms, plant more crops—both for feeding your families and for sale. The fertilizer you’re getting today can make a big difference if used properly.”

Rurum added, “Increasing food production is not only beneficial to your households but also key to tackling hunger and inflation in the country.”

Many farmers at the event described the fertilizer as timely and necessary.

Malam Yusuf Abdullahi from Bunkure said, “This is a big relief for us. Fertilizer is very expensive now, and many of us had lost hope. This support will help us continue farming without borrowing.”

Malam Salisu Idris, a maize farmer from Kibiya, said, “I was thinking of reducing the size of my farm this year because I couldn’t afford fertilizer. But with this support, I can maintain my farm and even cultivate more land. We’re grateful.”

Rurum said he would continue to focus on agriculture and other pressing needs in his constituency.
