Ogun police warn against ‘777’ cult anniversary

The Ogun State Police Command has issued a stern warning to cult groups across the state to jettison the idea of marking the ‘777’ cult anniversary or face the full wrath of the law.

CSP Omolola Odutola, the Command’s spokesperson, revealed in a statement that all hands are on deck to beef up security across all divisions and area commands to checkmate any public disturbances that may arise from the dreaded ‘777’ cult anniversary.

The Command warned that the police would not hesitate to crack down on any unlawful gatherings, processions, or anniversary activities linked to cult groups, stressing that anyone found with firearms or other weapons during this period would face prosecution.

“The Command has reinforced security operations across all Divisions and Area Commands to ensure peace and public safety.

“Any attempt to stage unlawful gatherings, processions, or anniversary events linked to cultism will be met with swift and decisive police action

“Young people are strongly urged to avoid loitering or forming clusters in public places. Security operatives will not hesitate to disperse gatherings that raise suspicion or threaten public peace,” the statement added.

Odutola also warned parents and guardians to monitor their children and discourage them from congregating in suspicious clusters or loitering in public areas.

The command also urged the general public to go about their lawful activities, as the police remain committed to maintaining public order.
