NECO 2025: 58 Inmates in Kano Sit for SSCE

Fifty-eight inmates from custodial centres across Kano State have begun sitting for the 2025 National Examination Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

This was disclosed in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Kano State Command, Musbahu Lawan K/Nasarawa.

According to the statement, the Kano State Government, under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, paid the registration fees for all the inmates sitting the exams.

“This milestone achievement would not have been possible without the generous support of the Kano State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, which kindly paid the registration fees for the examination,” the statement read.

Musbahu Lawan said the decision reflects the state’s interest in the reform and reintegration of inmates.

“This gesture is a testament to the State Government’s commitment to the welfare, rehabilitation, reformation, and reintegration of inmates in the command,” he said.

He added that education will help improve inmates’ morale and offer them another chance.

“This gesture will go a long way in boosting the morale of the inmates and providing them with a second chance at education and a brighter future,” he said.

The Command also said it will continue efforts toward rehabilitation.

“The Nigerian Correctional Service, Kano State Command, remains committed to providing a conducive environment for the rehabilitation and reformation of inmates, and we are proud to have the support of the Kano State Government in this endeavor,” the statement added.
