A Nigerian woman working as a commercial bus driver in Lagos has appealed for help after she was allegedly assaulted by agberos (motor park touts) for refusing to pay them a fee.
The disturbing incident was shared via a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) by user @omoelerinjare, along with a video showing the visibly distressed driver.
In the clip, the woman who is a mother of two narrates how she was confronted by the touts at the Mowe-Ibafo bus stop. She explained that her vehicle had been out of service for over two months due to mechanical faults, including issues with the engine and gearbox, making it impossible for her to work.
On the day of the attack, she said she pleaded with the touts, promising to settle them when she returned from her trip. However, instead of understanding, the agberos reportedly turned violent beating her, flattening her tyre, and damaging her vehicle.
In her words: “See what agbero did to me this morning. They said I should give them money and I told them I will when I’m back. For over 2 months I didn’t work, my engine and gear have problems. I have two kids. This is the only way I make money.”
“They started to beat me at Mowe Ibafo, at the bus stop. They removed my car rubber. They’re cheating us, the women. They flattened my tyre.”

The incident has since gone viral, sparking widespread condemnation from Nigerians online. Many are calling for government intervention and justice for the female driver, urging authorities to address the ongoing harassment and extortion commercial drivers face from agberos across the state.
