How Hadi Sirika’s daughter, Fatima, husband Jalal Sule Hamma, Hamad Sirika ‘stole’ N2.7bn

A witness of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has narrated how Hadi Sirika, former minister of aviation, awarded contracts to his relatives during his tenure as a cabinet member.”

The EFCC had, on May 9, arraigned Sirika alongside his daughter, Fatima Sirika, her husband, Jalal Sule Hamma, and their company, Al Buraq Global Investment Ltd and brother, Hamad Sirika, before the federal capital territory (FCT) high court in Maitama.”

The former minister is accused of abusing his office by awarding contracts to a company in which both his daughter and her husband have ownership interests.”

Testifying as the 12th prosecution witness on Tuesday, Christopher Odofin, an EFCC investigating officer, told the court that the contract for the terminal building and apron expansion at Katsina Airport was classified as a single contract by the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).”

However, the witness said Sirika split the contract into two parts — awarding one to Enginos Nigeria Limited for N1.3 billion, and the other to Al Buraq Global Investment Ltd for N1.4 billion.”
