Governor Yusuf Names Ahmed Musa Kano Pillars General Manager

The Kano State Government has appointed Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa as the new General Manager of Kano Pillars Football Club.

The appointment follows the expiration of the club’s previous management board, which oversaw a 9th-place finish in the just-concluded Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf approved the reconstitution of the board ahead of the 2025/2026 season.

“In line with global best practices, the board also proposed the appointment of renowned international footballer Ahmed Musa, OON, MON, as the new General Manager of Kano Pillars FC,” the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said in a statement.

According to the statement, the decision was reached after “several consultative meetings with key stakeholders,” which resulted in the reappointment of most of the previous board members, with some adjustments.

Musa’s return to the club comes four days after his name appeared on the list of players registered for the new NPFL season. Kano Pillars are also scheduled to begin pre-season training today, July 4, after a one-month break.

The reconstituted board will be chaired by Ali Muhammad Umar (Nayara) and includes 17 other members drawn from various sectors, including two media professionals: Abubakar Isah Dandago Yamalash and Ismail Abba Tangalash.

The state government said the new leadership is expected to build on the club’s recent progress and aim for better results in the upcoming season.
