Gov Yusuf Appoints Suspended KASCO MD as Adviser, Promotes Other Aides

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has named eleven new Special Advisers, including Dr. Tukur Dayyabu Minjibir, the former Managing Director of the Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO), who was suspended two years ago over allegations of misconduct.
Dr. Minjibir’s suspension in September 2023 was linked to accusations involving the unauthorized sale of government-owned grains.
A suspension letter dated 12th September 2023, signed by the then Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, stated, “No official is above scrutiny,” reaffirming the administration’s stance on accountability in public office.
Despite the controversy, Minjibir was earlier appointed in March as Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture and has now been reappointed as the Special Adviser on General Agricultural Inputs.
This was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
According to Bature Dawakin Tofa, “The appointees, who come from diverse professional backgrounds, are expected to deploy their expertise in support of the administration’s policies and programmes.”
Other appointments approved by the Governor include Prof. Abba Garba Gaya as Special Adviser on Agriculture (Crop Production/Extension Service); Yusuf Ibrahim Sharada as Special Adviser on Digital Economy—promoted from his previous position as SSA on ICT; and Aminu Salihu Kunchi as Special Adviser on Private and Voluntary Schools.
Additional advisers named are CP Kabiru Gwarzo (Rtd.) for Special Assignments I; Kabiru Getso Haruna on Employment; Hajiya Bilkisu Yakubu Indabo on Enlightenment and Social Mobilisation; and Tijjani Hussaini Gandu on Culture and Entertainment.
The list also includes Engr. Ibrahim Ibrahim Sisi as Special Adviser on Infrastructure; SP Bala Shehu Muhammad (Rtd.) on Special Services (Government House); and Sale Musa Sa’ad on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
“These appointments are carefully selected to align with the government’s policy thrust of people-oriented governance,” Bature added.
