Despite Pressure, Kwankwaso Won’t Dump NNPP — Buba Galadima
Amid growing political pressure and speculations of defection, Buba Galadima, a prominent figure in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has declared that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has no intention of leaving the party.
Speaking during an interview on The Morning Show aired on Arise Television on Friday, Galadima dismissed reports suggesting Kwankwaso might join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) following the resignation of its national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
According to Galadima, political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), APC, and several groups within a broader coalition, have all attempted to woo Kwankwaso into their folds. Despite these advances, he said Kwankwaso has remained committed to the NNPP.
“We will remain in the NNPP strategically until the whistle is blown for politics,” Galadima affirmed.
He emphasized that the NNPP is a fully registered political party recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and that its presence on the political landscape remains solid.
“We stand where we are. Of course, we’ve seen several reports in the press and on social media — but that only proves that Rabiu Kwankwaso is the politician this country needs and should follow,” he added.
Describing the former Kano State governor as a “strategic politician,” Galadima said Kwankwaso’s decision to stay silent amid the ongoing political noise has only boosted his image.
“He has decided to keep quiet, and yet people are campaigning for him free of charge,” Galadima said. “Instead of paying for public relations, everyone is saying he’s competent, capable and has the capacity to lead the country. What more could you ask from a politician?”
He went further to say, “Every Nigerian needs him. Every political party needs him. Why not support him to become the president of Nigeria so that he can deliver the dividends of democracy?”
Galadima concluded by insisting that while the pressure is real, Kwankwaso remains “steadfast and strategic” in his commitment to the NNPP.
