Buhari’s Health Improving After Treatment Abroad – Garba Shehu

Former presidential aide, Garba Shehu, has confirmed that ex-President Muhammadu Buhari is currently receiving medical treatment in the United Kingdom but said his condition is improving.
Shehu made the remarks on Wednesday in response to enquiries about Buhari’s health status, following speculations over the former president’s wellbeing.
“Following your enquiry, I wish to state as follows: It is true that the former president, Muhammadu Buhari is unwell. He has been receiving treatment in the UK,” Shehu said.
He added that Buhari initially travelled for his regular medical check-up, but later took ill while abroad.
“You would recall he made it known that he was going for his annual medical check-up. He became ill there, but I am happy to announce to you that he is doing well in his recovery while receiving treatment,” he said.
“We pray for his healthy recovery,” Shehu concluded.
While in office, Buhari made several trips to London for medical reasons. In 2017, he spent over 100 days in the UK receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness. His routine travels were briefly halted during the COVID-19 pandemic.
