Grammy-nominated Afrobeat artist Made Kuti has expressed his confusion over why some people own a large number of cars.

In a recent interview with Pulse, Kuti shared his perspective, stating that he finds it odd for one person to have as many as seven or eight cars. He explained that his upbringing shaped his values, making him less focused on material possessions.

The musician emphasized that, to him, vehicles are depreciating assets, and investing heavily in them doesn’t make sense. “I just find it weird,” he said, referring to excessive car collections.

“I’m the kind of person who just do what he wants. So a lot of my interests are… Maybe my dad was very clever with how he raised us. But the school of thought is, I don’t care much about materialistic things. For example, how many cars do you need to drive? I genuinely don’t understand why you need 7, 8 cars. They are depreciating assets. In the next couple of years, they will depreciate.

“So, it’s weird to me, but it’s an interest to another person.”
