Tinubu, Shettima Deserve Support, Not Speculation — Group
A civic group, Arewa 19 Pyramid for Grassroots Development, has called on political actors to stop what it described as needless distractions against President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, warning that such actions could derail governance.
Speaking at a press conference in Gombe on Saturday, the group’s convener, Ahmed Abdulraheem, said it was troubling to see attempts to sow division within the leadership, especially targeting Vice President Shettima.
“It is deeply concerning to witness the recent wave of unnecessary political speculations and divisive narratives attempting to undermine the role of Shettima in government,” he said.
Abdulraheem stressed that the focus should be on governance, not politics. “It is not yet time for politics as the present leadership still has time to deliver good governance. Political groups or individuals must not be allowed to shift the attention of Tinubu and Shettima from consolidating on the achievements already recorded.”
He warned that internal rifts and premature political calculations could harm the administration’s ability to fulfill its mandate.
“The government must not allow the seeds of internal division to distract it from the urgent task of governance,” he said.
According to him, the partnership between Tinubu and Shettima “represents not only political stability but also symbolises inclusion, competence and renewed focus on national development.”
Abdulraheem added: “Shettima has earned his place through years of service, sacrifice and dedication to the unity of the country. Undermining him is not just an affront to the north but also a disservice to the nation.”
He called on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to put aside internal differences and focus on delivering results.
“The time for elections will come but now is the time to deliver on promises, to serve the people and build a more secure and prosperous Nigeria,” he said.
“This is a defining moment in our quest for a better Nigeria; a time to set aside distractions and firmly support the leadership that is steering our country towards progress.
“Let us stay focused. Let us stay united and let us always remember – Nigeria first, politics later,” Abdulraheem urged.
