Tinubu: Change Must Come, I’ll Keep My Promise to Nigerians

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has restated his commitment to delivering real change to Nigerians and staying true to the promises he made during the 2023 campaign.

Speaking in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad, Tinubu said his administration is determined to support states like Nasarawa in their developmental efforts, particularly in areas such as solid minerals and agriculture.

“We have seen it in Gov. Sule. We just commissioned an interchange, and he told us he did not borrow a penny for completion,” the president said, praising Governor Abdullahi Sule for his transparency and efficient use of resources.

President Tinubu, who was in the state to commission projects executed by the Sule administration, noted that such prudence has earned the state the trust of investors and the federal government.

Addressing the Emir and other dignitaries in the palace, Tinubu expressed appreciation for the support he received during the last presidential election.

“I am happy to be back here in Nasarawa and to confirm what the Emir told me during the campaigns in 2023—that I will be back as President of Nigeria. Thank you. You are a highly far-sighted individual, a committed Nigerian of high integrity and jurisprudence,” he said.

He also commended traditional rulers for maintaining peace and unity in their domains and acknowledged the synergy between them and political leaders.

“The governors’ presence here is truly emotional for me. Thank you for the way you showed up with grace and glory. Thank you for keeping your loyalty intact,” Tinubu remarked.

The president emphasized that his administration is guided by the Renewed Hope Agenda, which is focused on transforming the economy and improving the quality of life for citizens. “All I have decided is to ensure a change for the future and the best,” Tinubu said. “The Renewed Hope Agenda will reposition the economy to benefit young Nigerians and future generations.”

In his remarks, the Emir of Lafia, who is also the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, welcomed Tinubu warmly and reflected on their earlier encounters.

“Your Excellency, our President, our friend, our everything. You are welcome back to this hall. It started here when you came in some years ago,” the Emir said.

He praised Tinubu’s leadership track record, especially his performance as Governor of Lagos State. “We were in Lagos during our days at the Court of Appeal. During your term in office as Governor of Lagos, we saw how you turned around Lagos and made Lagos what it is today. Your Excellency, you are translating the same into the Nigerian economy, and before you leave office, Nigeria will be great again,” he said
