David Njoroge Chege, a Kenyan man, has shared how his attempt to “teach his first wife a lesson” by marrying a second wife ended in disaster.

Speaking in an interview, Njoroge revealed that the second wife turned out to be problematic and later accused him of a crime he claims he didn’t commit—landing him a 15-year prison sentence.

“Initially, we fought over some of my goats. She went to report me to the police and the chief, claiming that I had stolen the goats and the bicycle that I owned. I had to convince the chief and police that the assets were mine. I was so mad at her for setting me up,” he said.

The man revealed he once cared for his second wife’s four children, but later relocated to Njoro alone, fearing she might set him up again.

Three months later, she called claiming her child was ill, prompting a reunion. However, constant quarrels followed, and she even trailed him to Njoro, once causing a public scene by shouting he was a fugitive.

Despite the red flags, he followed her back to their Free Area home, but things only got worse from there.

“I returned to Free Area for a while, but it was all trouble.

“One of her kids even went missing, and I was worried she would set me up,” he narrated.

Tired of the constant fights, he returned to his home in Njoro—but things took a devastating turn.

“I took all my clothes and decided to go back to my house in Njoro. However, that same night, I was arrested. Police officers came to my house at 2am accompanied by the woman. She alleged that I had assaulted one of her children. This was in 2015. Since then, I have always been behind bars,” he narrated.

Fighting back tears, he revealed he was initially handed a life sentence, later reduced to 15 years.

“The 15 years are now over, and I may be out anytime. I only married her because I had issues with my first wife. I decided to marry the second woman so that my first wife would stop being stubborn, but now looking back, I was mistaken,” he added.
