Islamic New Year: Let’s Work for Peace, Says Kano APC Chieftain Matawallen Dambatta

As the new Islamic year 1447 AH begins, Hon. Musa Sani Adamu (Matawallen Dambatta), former chairmanship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on Muslims to embrace peace, unity, and service to humanity.
In a statement facilitated to mark the occasion, and signed by Comrade Sunusi Tijjani Khalifa, former Education Secretary of Dambatta Local Government, Hon. Musa urged the Muslim community to use the new year as a time for deep reflection.
“The Islamic New Year is a time for reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to the values of peace, unity, and service to humanity,” the statement reads.
Drawing from Islamic history, he reminded Muslims of the significance of the Hijrah, describing it as a moment that carries lessons about sacrifice and standing up for truth.
“It reminds us of the Hijrah—the noble journey of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW)—and the sacrifices made in the pursuit of justice and truth,” he said.
He prayed for peace and stability in the country and beyond, hoping for a better year ahead.
“I pray that this new year (1447 AH) brings blessings, prosperity, and lasting peace to our communities. May Allah (SWT) guide our leaders, protect our nation, and strengthen the bond of brotherhood among Muslims worldwide.”
He also acknowledged members of the APC, especially those from Dambatta and Kano State, for their continued support.
“I also use this opportunity to appreciate the steadfast and committed members of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Dambatta, across Kano State, and throughout Nigeria. Your support and unity are the backbone of our collective progress.”
Hon. Musa ended the message by urging Muslims to stay true to Islamic values and continue contributing to the growth of their communities.
“Let us enter this new year with renewed faith and a deeper resolve to uphold the principles of Islam and contribute positively to the growth of our communities.”
The Islamic year 1447 AH officially commenced with the sighting of the crescent moon.
