BUK Professor Mainasara Kurfi Gets Traditional Title

Professor Yakubu Mainasara Kurfi, a senior lecturer at Bayero University, Kano, and former Head of the Department of Mass Communication, has been conferred with the traditional title of “Ajiyan Kurfi” by the District Head of Kurfi in Katsina State.

In a letter signed by Arc. Mansur Ahmadu Kurfi, the Maradin Katsina and District Head of Kurfi, the traditional ruler stated that the decision was based on Professor Mainasara’s “significant contributions to the development of our community and the nation at large.”

“I am writing to formally inform you that, in recognition of your significant contributions to the development of our community and the nation at large, I have approved the conferment of the traditional title ‘Ajiyan Kurfi’ on you,” the letter read.

The District Head said he hoped the titleholder would carry out the responsibilities of the position with dignity and wisdom.

“May Allah grant you the strength and wisdom to carry this responsibility,” he added, noting that “the date for your official installation will be communicated to you later, God willing, when the time is right and in good health.”

He concluded the letter with a prayer: “May Allah bless us with peace and continue to keep our country in harmony.”
