Ethiopian Airlines seeks increased tourism into Nigeria

Ethiopian Airlines says it is intensifying efforts to promote tourism to and from Nigeria to boost the growing momentum of the industry.

The Area Manager of Ethiopian Airlines, Nigeria, Mrs Firiehiwot Mekonnen, said this in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.

Mekonnen said Nigeria was fast emerging as Africa’s leading hub for entertainment and cultural events, and the airline was set to support its growth.

“Ethiopian Airlines connects over 60 African cities to its expansive global network, playing a key role in facilitating trade and tourism across the continent,” she said.

According to Mekonnen, the airline has supported major cultural events in Nigeria, including the Calabar Carnival, as well as providing seamless travel options and discounted fares.

She highlighted the country’s rich culture, natural beauty and diverse attractions, adding that Nigeria’s untapped tourism potential deserved global attention.

“Ethiopian Airlines is a connector of African trade and tourism.

“We are committed to driving more tourism into Nigeria from around the world and also encouraging Nigerians to explore Ethiopia and other parts of Africa.

“We’ll also ensure that ‘Detty December’ is even more accessible to Nigerians,” she said.

Freedomonline  reports that the airline has been operating in the country since 1960, and has flown its most modern fleet on Nigeria’s routes.
