‘Missing Billionaire’s Case Stalls In Court’ — Lawyers Protest As Judge’s Absence Delays Ezemma Kidnap Hearing

Tension flared at the Anambra High Court, Awka, on Tuesday as lawyers representing various parties in the high-profile case of missing billionaire estate developer, Mr. Benjamin Ezemma, expressed frustration over the court’s failure to sit.

The lawyers, some of whom traveled from outside the state, lamented that they were not informed in advance about the presiding judge’s absence.

They criticized the situation, stating that they had spent scarce resources to attend the hearing only to be told at the last minute by the court clerk that the proceedings would not hold.

Ezemma, the Managing Director of Dubai Estate, Awka, has been missing since November 12, 2024, and his whereabouts remain unknown. His disappearance has fueled speculation and legal battles.

In the case, Ozo Jeff Nweke, CEO of Mango and Lion Properties Ltd, was charged alongside others under Charge No: AWK/6c/2025, accused of allegedly kidnapping Ezemma.

At the court premises, some leaders of Ezinano community, Awka, dismissed allegations linking Nweke to the case. They claimed that the accusations were part of a smear campaign orchestrated by a rival community engaged in a land dispute with them.

One community leader remarked, “This is pure mischief. They are using this case to tarnish the image of our illustrious son.”

The absence of the court sitting has further fueled tensions surrounding the case, leaving all parties waiting for the next development.
