Oyo: NDLEA nabs 546 suspects, secures 46 convictions in 2024

The Oyo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reported a successful year in its fight against illicit drugs.

Between January and December 2024, the command arrested 546 suspects, including 449 males and 97 females, ranging in age from 12 to 80 years old.

These arrests were made in connection with various drug offenses, including possession and trafficking of cannabis sativa, tramadol, cocaine, and other controlled substances.

The command charged 66 cases to court, securing 46 convictions.

Furthermore, the NDLEA seized 10,444.538kg of illicit drugs and destroyed 1.420093 hectares of cannabis sativa farmland.

The command also recovered firearms and ammunition, rehabilitated 18 individuals, and counseled 144 individuals during the year.

Commander Olayinka Joe-Fadile commended the public for their support and urged continued cooperation to make Oyo State drug-free.
