Abia Rep Mourns Deputy Chief Whip Onanuga

Rep. Amobi Godwin Ogah, representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives.

Hon. Onanuga, who served the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, following a brief illness.

In a heartfelt condolence message released on Thursday, Ogah described Onanuga as an exceptional legislator whose unwavering dedication to service and legislative excellence left a lasting legacy in the National Assembly.

“Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga was a compassionate leader and a tireless advocate for her people. Her demise is a significant loss to the House of Representatives and the entire nation. She will be sorely missed,” Ogah stated.

Born on December 2, 1965, Hon. Onanuga began her legislative career in 2019 under the All Progressives Congress (APC). During the 9th Assembly, she chaired the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, championing women’s empowerment and social welfare programs.

Reelected in 2023, she served as the Deputy Chief Whip in the 10th Assembly, earning admiration for her leadership and commitment.

Ogah conveyed his condolences to the family of the late lawmaker, the constituents of the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, and members of the National Assembly.

He prayed for her soul’s repose and strength and comfort for all those grieving her loss.
