Police launch manhunt as unknown gunmen kidnap woman in Ogun

Police in Ogun State have launched a manhunt to unravel the mystery behind the kidnapping of one Nimota Busari by unknown armed men in Sagamu area of the state.

The victim’s husband, William Kolawole, reported to the police that three armed men attacked their car while they were about to enter their residence in Sagamu and threw the children out of the car before whisking her away with the car.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement at the weekend in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Odutola explained that Kolawole, his wife, and their two children were going home in her unregistered Toyota Corolla car after they left the victim’s shop at Ibepa in Sagamu, when the armed men appeared from nowhere and abducted her.

She explained further that the police had launched a manhunt to fish out the culprits and rescue the woman as well as recovering the stolen car.

The statement reads: A report was made at the Sagamu Divisional Police Station on 16/05/2024 at about 20:28hrs by William Kolawole, residing at Algabala Close, Solad Road, Ajaka, Sagamu.

“He reported that on the same day about 19:45hrs, his wife Nimota Busari and their two children were returning home in her unregistered navy blue 2010 Toyota Corolla from her shop in Ibepa Area, Sagamu.

“Three armed men intercepted her at the gate, snatched the car, threw the children out, abducted her, and drove off.

“Further details of the car documents were inside it at the time of the incident, as such , the complainant could not give information about the car.

“An investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided.

“This is a syndicate operating within Sagamu, Iperu, Ikenne, Odogbolu and Erewon in Ijebu ode.

“There was a similar trend in their modus operandi on the 11th of May , 2024, at about, 21:30hrs at Ikenne, which is to lay wait for their unsuspecting victims at the gate, and when their victims alight from the vehicle with engine running, towards opening the gate, the armed hoodlums, will suddenly emerge from their hiding spot and zoom off with the car with occupants inside the vehicle.”
