Leao, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League, is reportedly in talks for a transfer to the Middle East to join Jorge Jesus’ team.
Saudi football has seen a major transformation since Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr after leaving Manchester United. Following his move, several top European talents have headed to Saudi Arabia, including Karim Benzema, Sadio Mane, and N’golo Kante among others.
A few top European talents could be making the switch this summer and reports are suggesting it could be the turn of Leao.
Leao has struggled this season, scoring only eight goals in 33 Serie A appearances, compared to 15 goals in 35 matches last season.
According to Ojogo, Leao’s father will travel to Saudi Arabia this week for negotiations. The forward’s €175M release clause is not expected to be an obstacle.
Al Hilal, this season’s Saudi Pro League champions, aim to compete strongly in the 2025 Club World Cup, where they could face teams like Manchester City and Chelsea.
However, it remains to be seen if Leao is ready to leave Europe for Saudi Arabia.
In February, Leao expressed his commitment to Milan, where he signed from Lille in 2019. He stated his loyalty to the club and his desire to win more titles.
Leao, 24, is also part of Portugal’s squad for Euro 2024.
