You Can Now Play As The Ghoul In Fallout 4

Walton Goggins’ Cooper “The Ghoul” Howard is undoubtedly the break-out character of Prime Video’s Fallout series and fans of the show who are desperate to roam around Fallout 4 as the gunslinger can now do so thanks to an impressive new mod. Given the sheer amount of customization options available to players in Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic RPG, it stands to reason that someone would eventually conjure up a convincing take on The Ghoul. However, since the base game doesn’t allow players to become Ghouls, some modding is necessary to achieve the desired look.

While there are undoubtedly plenty of different mods that allow fans to resemble the instantly iconic, Nexus Mods user Jonin1433 shared their preset build that may just be the most authentic take on Cooper Howard yet. Achieved with a combination of additional mods like “Ghouls Revamped” and “Ghoulish Player,” the creator managed to build a Sole Survivor that looks remarkably similar to Goggins’ anti-hero. Moreover, the preset also includes The Ghoul’s signature hat, leather coat, and revolver for those players who are looking for an even more authentic role-playing experience.

It’s no surprise that Fallout 4 players are so dead set on playing as Cooper Howard given that he’s the stand-out character of Prime Video’s TV series. Without delving into spoilers, his cold and callous demeanor is one that’s built up over hundreds of years as he’s been forced to endure the horrors of post-nuclear warfare and make a name for himself as a bounty hunter in the Wasteland. While he may be a brutal killer who doesn’t blink when it comes to taking a life, he still lives a code of honor that determines which contracts he accepts as he looks for his new place in the changed world.

Playing as The Ghoul in Fallout 4 should be significantly easier than creating the character given that the playstyle fits fairly cleanly into the average playthrough. Those who want to take on the Commonwealth as The Ghoul will need to build their character around small guns, prioritizing pistols and rifles so that they can dispense lead from afar. Additionally, players will need to keep an ample supply of the game’s drugs on hand given that Cooper Howard is known for chugging his fair share of RadAway to ensure his survival.

Fallout 4 may be nearly a decade old but that doesn’t mean the game’s popularity is waning. The success of the Fallout show has driven a new audience to the game, prompting Bethesda to release another “next-gen” update that includes a handful of visual upgrades and some additional content. The game’s spiking player base has rumors swirling that Microsoft may want Bethesda to expedite the release of another Fallout game but these have yet to be confirmed.
