A former governor of Edo State, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor, on Thursday declared his intention to contest next year’s governorship poll in the state.

Osunbor said he had the capacity to lead the state to an enviable height if given the opportunity to govern the state in 2024.

He also pledged to address the issue of failed roads in the state among other developmental projects that the state lacks, noting that the state is retrogressing under the present administration.

Osunbor spoke in Benin City during a visit to the leadership of the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, where he declared his ambition.

The former governor said he was aware of the sufferings of the Edo people and would change things if given the party’s ticket and subsequently emerged as governor of the state in the 2024 election.

He added that he has the experience and integrity having been in the office as governor for a short period and promised to deliver good governance if elected.

He said, “The state is currently suffering from bad roads and non-availability of other amenities. If given the opportunity to serve again, I will make sure that all these amenities are available.

“I have been there before and I have a lot to offer and I promise Edo people that I will do a lot to better their lots,” he added.

Osunbor solicited the support of the party leaders, promising he would take the state to greater heights following his rich history as an astute politician, whose tenure as governor recorded laudable feats.
