The two fastest-finishing Nigerian male and female athletes from the recently held Lotus Bank Abeokuta 10km Marathon, Patience Dalyop and Francis James, have been rewarded by CashToken Rewards Africa with 100,000 worth of cash token bundles.
Daylop on Saturday prevented a Kenyan clean sweep of honours at the second edition of the race when she crossed the line in 36:31s to take the third position in the women’s category of the event usually dominated by East Africans, while James finished fifth overall and won Nigeria’s men’s category in 31:08s.
The race was part of activities to commemorate the 80th birthday celebration of the Alake of Egbaland, Kabiyesi Oba Michael Gbadebo (CFR).
Managing Director of CashToken Rewards Africa, Lai Labode, said the marathon places Abeokuta amongst other iconic locations on the world map, with positive reviews and opportunities for more participation in the future, which will bring in more tourists and potential investments into the state.
He also urged Daylop, James and other participants to remain committed, hardworking, diligent and steadfast in their strive to attain their goals.
Dalyop and James, who have vowed to keep striving for better finishes, expressed gratitude to the management of CashToken Rewards Africa for the prize reward.
