Some of the worst MCU deaths in the franchise's history have happened to its main players, but it can be easy to forget that many background characters have been on the receiving end of some particularly gruesome fates. These tone-changing moments can often feel especially brutal in a franchise that is largely quite lighthearted, often working to establish a level of threat that goes beyond typical death-dealing methods. Unfortunately for these background characters, they unwittingly took the role of the cannon fodder through which this threat can be demonstrated.
