A handful of replacement actors failed to take over the leading role in major movie franchises. In some cases, the major actor had previously come off the success of an outstanding television series or critically acclaimed film that gave them the green light to capitalize on their popularity and fame with a big studio franchise. While the "striking while the iron is hot" strategy has certainly laid a proven track record with many famous actors in their careers, some transitions into major franchises ultimately didn't work out by this method. Typically, the franchise misfire didn't have much to do with the actor's performance whatsoever.
