Newt's Alien 3 Death Was Almost WAY Worse

It might sound impossible, but Newt's Alien 3 death was almost considerably worse. Aliens was a huge success upon release in 1986, but it was produced at a time before sequels were a given. James Cameron had no interest in returning for a third movie, Sigourney Weaver was reluctant and there was no story. Alien 3 thus spent many years in development hell, with rejected story ideas ranging from the ridiculous (a raging Xenovirus transforms an entire space station into an alien monster) to the sublime (Ripley trapped on a wooden planet populated by technology-hating monks).
