1. Reactions have continued to trail the conduct of the 2023 presidential election as Nigerians express dissatisfaction with the poll. This was felt at an online protest organized by the Free Nigeria Movement. The group had made the move known at a strategic meeting on Wednesday as part of measure for further engagement with the Nigerian public most of whom may not be disposed to participate in its physical protest. Respondents berated the 180 – day window for litigation describing it as bogus and unrealistic as the incumbent can influence the decision by the courts. They called for the conclusion of all cases before May 29 if there can be any semblance of justice..
2. Nigerian famous singer, Peter Okoye, of the P-square music group,A has reacted to the divorce saga of the PSG defender, Achraf Hakimi. The social media was flooded with reports of the millionaire footballer divorcing his wife, Hiba Abouk on Friday. It was said that the wife who filed the divorce suit, demanded half of the PSG star’s belongings but was told that Hakimi has nothing as all his properties were acquired in his mother’s name.
3. A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Cairo Ojuogbo, on Saturday, claimed the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege worked against the emergence of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu. Ojuogbo said Omo-Agege never believed Tinubu would win the presidential election, hence did not work for his emergence.
4. Peter Obi, Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the election of February 25, 2023, insisted that nobody can force him to leave Nigeria. Earlier Mr Obi claimed that he was under pressure to leave the country but stated that he was committed to creating a new Nigeria.
5. Libyan police on Wednesday disclosed the arrest of a Nigerian couple for the murder of their female compatriot in Libya. The Libya Observer, in a report on its Twitter page, said police forces arrested the couple in Tripoli. According to the report, the suspects allegedly killed the woman and dumped her body on the street near the Nigerian Embassy in Tripoli.
6. Some of the aspirants who participated in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Kogi State have rejected the outcome of the process. The aspirants that rejected the results included, Senator Smart Adeyemi, Prince Shuaibu Audu, Prof. Stephen Oseni and a member of the APC National Working Committee, Yakubu Ajaka.
7. The former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for Bayelsa State. Sylva, a former Bayelsa State Governor, polled 52,061 votes to defeat five other contenders to win the governorship ticket at the party’s primary election conducted on Friday and Saturday.
8. Time Magazine has named President-elect Bola Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as one of the world’s most influential people of 2023, following the outcome of the general elections in Nigeria as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
9. No fewer than 18 lawyers including two Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) have been appointed to prosecute electoral offenders. It was gathered the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) made the appointment for the prosecution of electoral offenders after the 2023 general election.
10. The Special Assistant on Public Communication to Atiku Abubakar, Phrank Shaibu has lambasted the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, for trying to present the $460,000 forfeiture case as one relating to tax evasion and not drug charges.
