While Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid remake trailer has many elements to be excited about, it still shows signs of a problem plaguing many movies and shows. Especially when adapting such a hallmark animated classic, Disney will have to be very careful in making sure every detail counts and that the film is both true to the original and a good movie in its own right without feeling like it only depends on nostalgia for the original to be successful. Of course, this is a fine line to walk with adaptations, but maybe after its many previous live-action remakes, Disney has learned how best to adapt its original animated movies to the greatest effect.
