Ondo PDP kicks as secretary dumps party
The Ondo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party on Monday blasted its former Publicity Secretary, Mr Banji Okunomo, and other chieftains who dumped the party, asserting that their defection did not shake the party.
Okunomo resigned his membership of the party on Monday, explaining that his decision was due to the internal crisis that has been rocking the party. He, however, promised to announce his next move .
In a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Kennedy Peretei, the party said it had received reports of Okunomo resigning from the party, but it would not lose sleep over the development.
The statement read, “In the last 18 months, these same characters have moved in and out of the PDP twice, which is a confirmation of their nomadic essence as politicians. Most of them who got promotions beyond their capacities by the PDP have consistently lost their polling units to other political parties during elections.
“They have always been trailed by failure in their opportunistic and self-serving inordinate ambitions that drive their insatiable desire for crumbs from the master’s table. They defected to the Zenith Labour Party but shamelessly returned to PDP after their tragic outing that was a measure of their political relevance.”
He wondered why the party would lose sleep over what he termed as colourless, inconsequential, serial defectors
He added that it won’t be any surprise if they are treated as political prostitutes wherever they may go.
He, however, said the PDP wishes them luck, and “any time they wish to come back, our doors are open. Now that they have established that they are political herdsmen.”
