NECA urges women to raise networth with tech

Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association has urged women to develop themselves and improve their networth by driving their businesses with technology.

Stakekolders spoke at the International Women’s Day event with the theme, ‘DigitAll: Innovation and technology for gender equality’, which was organised by the NECA Network of Entrepreneurial Women in Lagos in partnership with other organisations.

The Commissioner, Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Cooperatives, Dr Lola Akande, who was the special guest of honour at the event, said the theme of the event was important as it presented powerful opportunities for gender equality and offered renewed hope for women empowerment.

She said, “Consequently, the disproportionate impacts of women of the cost of living crisis, the total conflict and aftermath of COVID-19 pandemic that are being experienced across our region, risk further back progress towards equality.

“Innovation and technology will play a part in responding to the challenges of multiple and overlapping crises, hence, increase the networth of women in business and network of women in business and networking among the women fold across the globe will be strengthen for productivity and profitability.”

While noting that it was important for more women to lead the world, she said, “If women had been in charge, we would have avoided most of the wars in the world today including in Africa.

“While men’s egos have caused wars, women’s selflessness and generally calmer disposition helps to foster peace.”

The National President, NECA Network of Entrepreneurial Women, Funmilayo Arowoogun, said the event was basically to celebrate the women, encourage them to embrace technology in their quest for better life and application to their businesses and endeavours.
