Rick and Morty mostly consists of comedic episodic adventures, but each season tends to have a loosely overarching story sprinkled throughout. Rick and Morty season 7 was meant to be different, heavily focusing on a canon storyline – something that will probably no longer happen due to Justin Roiland being fired.
