Will Daredevil & Punisher Join Forces To Make War With The Avengers?

Warning: SPOILERS for Punisher #9Right now, Daredevil and Punisher are about to face each other in the pages of Marvel Comics, but there is a chance they both might have to take on the Avengers.

As head of the Fist, Daredevil is on a crusade to stop the Hand, which also means he’s on a mission to stop the Punisher. Frank Castle has recently been recruited by that ninja assassin cult to become their new leader. Daredevil has always kept a wary eye on the Punisher and his extreme form of justice, but now that he is in charge of an organization that is notoriously evil, Daredevil is especially nervous. He has even married Elektra in a strange ritual and broken many super villains out of prison in order to begin an assault on the Punisher’s stronghold.

Meanwhile, in Punisher #9 by Jason Aaron, Jesus Saiz, and Paul Azaceta, the Punisher is in an all-out war already with Ares. Ever since he became a member of the Hand, Ares, the God of War, has felt shunned by Frank Castle and wants to reclaim his champion. Armed with his own soldiers and followers, Ares storms the Hand’s stronghold. However, the Punisher now has the powers of the Beast, the god the Hand worships, and he is able to defeat Ares. This, along with all of his activities around the world, has now drawn the attention of the Avengers, who feel the Punisher must be stopped.

One would think that the Avengers would align themselves with Daredevil. After all, Daredevil and the Avengers both view the Punisher as a threat. However, the means they want to take to stop him are vastly different. Daredevil already went to the Punisher’s stronghold and tried to confront him, but it had no effect. In order to take a different approach, Daredevil has recruited a team of super villains whom he hopes to reform in the process.

This attack on the super villain prison also drew the attention of the Avengers. They feel Daredevil has gone too far breaking villains out of prison in order to fight the Punisher . Even though they are opposed, both Punisher and Daredevil are trying to utilize forces of evil and align them for good. The Punisher is doing it with the Hand and Daredevil is doing it with super villains. This one threat that the Punisher and Daredevil both have in common may actually force them to join forces as the Avengers encroach on both of their operations.
