Local legislators host Valentine's events " News" –

State Rep. Jackie Haas is launching her third annual “Veterans Valentine” program to bring joy to local veterans on her 79ththe District. Haas invites all area residents to participate in making handmade Valentine’s greetings with well wishes for our veterans. These Valentine’s gifts will be accepted at their district office, 370 E. Court Street in Kankakee, through February 10.the. The cards will be delivered to veterans at Manteno Veterans Home in time for Valentine’s Day. State Senator Tom Bennett is asking for your help to brighten senior day in all 53rd Senate district. To help with this goal, Bennett is asking students, scouting groups, churches, and other groups to consider creating homemade cards that will be given to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and other long-term care facilities throughout the 53rd Senate district. Cards will be mailed or delivered between now and February 7the at the Bennett District Office, which is located at 1715 N. Division Street. There will be a drop box inside the office during normal business hours, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm There will be a small drop box outside where cards can be dropped off after hours. State Senator Sue Rezin is hosting a Valentine’s Day Card Drive for Seniors from January 12 to February 6 and invites everyone to participate by writing cards to those living in long-term care and assisted living facilities in the 38th District of the Senate. Drop off or mail the cards to Senator Rezin’s office at 1802 N. Division Street Ste 314 and Senator Rezin and her staff will personally deliver those cards to local seniors. If you deliver the cards in person, drop them in the marked drop box located inside the Morris or Peru office between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
