Dante Mossi, president of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) commented that El Salvador’s exposure to cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin, is minimal, despite being the first country to accept bitcoin as legal tender.

Previously, in December 2022, the multilateral lender provided El Salvador with $450 million, ahead of a bond payment due at the end of January. It is noteworthy that the bank has helped the country by providing most of the funds it needs to pay off debts.

In particular, Mossi commented on the “real situation in El Salvador”:

We have seen this exhibition and we think that it is very small, it is not significant…
