Cobra Kai Season 6 Jessica & Mike Barnes Reunion Teased By Star

With it set to be the show’s final chapter, Robyn Lively is teasing a potential Cobra Kai season 6 Jessica and Mike Barnes reunion. After five acclaimed seasons on both Netflix and YouTube Red, the Karate Kid sequel show will be coming to a close with its next season, which is expected to see the returns of both its young and older stars, namely leads Ralph Macchio and William Zabka. Throughout its run, Cobra Kai has delivered multiple second chances for the poorly received sequels and their characters, including Yuji Okumoto’s Chozen Toguchi and Thomas Ian Griffith’s Terry Silver, and one star looks to be eager to reunite with one fellow Miyagi-Verse vet.

On the heels of the show’s final renewal, Robyn Lively took to Twitter to react to the news that Cobra Kai season 6 will be the end for the Karate Kid sequel.

The actor shared a photo of herself from The Karate Kid Part III along with Mike Barnes actor Sean Kanan. Paired with a caption calling the season 6 renewal “Interestiiiiing…“, speculation has sparked for Jessica and Mike to be getting a proper reunion in Cobra Kai season 6.

Lively and Kanan first made their Miyagi-Verse debuts with The Karate Kid Part III, with Jessica briefly serving as a love interest for Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso until the two elected to just be friends, while Mike was one of the antagonists of the film working under Silver in the hopes of goading Daniel to return to fight Cobra Kai at the All Valley Karate Championship. After Mike got a brief reference in both seasons 1 and 3 of the series, he and Jessica would make their proper returns in Cobra Kai season 5. The former villain would get a two-episode guest appearance, now reformed and running a furniture store he owns with his wife, having moved on from his violent past, while Jessica was seen to still be living in Ohio after moving there at the end of The Karate Kid Part III.

Though only having brief appearances, Jessica and Mike’s returns in Cobra Kai season 5 proved to be vital to the story, with the former attempting to help bring down Silver, only for his life to nearly be ruined when the villain burns his furniture store down. Jessica, on the other hand, helps mend Daniel’s strained relationship with his wife Amanda, Jessica’s cousin, by revealing the truth behind her, Silver and Daniel’s traumatic history with each other. Jessica would only be seen in one episode of Cobra Kai season 5, while Mike would team up with Zabka’s Johnny Lawrence and Chozen to fight Silver in his home, successfully getting revenge and stealing a Rembrandt painting to pay for his lost store.

Despite season 5 seeming closing their arcs, the biggest paths forward for Jessica and Mike to return in Cobra Kai season 6 stem from the impending threat of John Kreese and the upcoming global martial arts tournament, Sekai Taikai. Considering Jessica’s disappointment in not seeing Daniel in season 5, it would prove a nostalgic treat for her to show up and lend support for the Miyagi-Do-Fang dojo during their first international competition, though with plenty of time to explore between her Karate Kid Part III debut and season 5 return, her story could also be expanded upon in flashbacks. Additionally, with Mike’s future now in the air, it would prove interesting to see him team up with Johnny, Daniel and Chozen to help train their students to take down their next competitors and take down a potentially returning Silver and Kreese.
