The U.S. attorney’s office has confirmed that Robert Fehring was taken into custody Wednesday ahead of the scheduled date he was ordered to begin serving his 30-month prison sentence.
They tell News 12 that federal agents took Fehring into custody Wednesday afternoon but would not say why or where they detained him.
Fehring was scheduled to begin serving his sentence on Sept. 2 for sending threatening and anti-LGBTQ messages to members of Long Island’s LGBTQ community members and their supporters.
Calls to Fehring’s attorney, FBI and U.S. Marshall’s office have not been returned.
