Enugu East Senator and former Governor of the state, Chimaroke Nnamani has counselled his constituents against succumbing to pressures or sentiments to vote Labour Presidential (LP) candidate, Peter Obi dubbed “Obidients” in February 2023.

Nnamani warned against Greek gifts from the Obidients as that would negatively affect the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chances to produce state governor, Senators, members of the House of Representatives and state Houses of Assembly.

The lawmaker likened the Obidients movement to the story of the tortoise who borrowed feather from other animals to enable it fly to attend a feast only to appropriate what belongs to everyone to himself alone, claiming to be everybody .

“That is exactly what they want. To borrow from every body and turn round to appropriate everything . Do not give them your feathers, let them stay on the ground where they belong. Your feathers are the structures they need. Call their bluff,” he said.

“There is no Obidient Party , the name is Labour Party . They have candidates for all elective positions including governorship. Our party and platform is different and that is PDP. If we blur the distinction and foolishly vote Obidient that is Labour Party for president, it will be hard to reverse.”

He said it would be difficult to educate the majority of people to reverse their voting pattern in a fortnight after voting Labour Party in the presidential poll.

He said most voters would continue voting LP for other elective positions, like governorship, state and federal legislators.
