Harry Potter: 10 Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes Items That Are Actually Useful

Fred and George are some of the most clever characters in Harry Potter. So much so that they even opened a store where they sell their best inventions. Even though Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes is mainly known for its jokes items, a lot of people would be surprised to know that this store also sells a great variety of useful items.

Even though some of their more famous items are the Skiving Snackbox, which contains multiple pills that’ll help students skip classes, and the U-No-Poo, a candy that causes constipation named after You-Know-Who, some quills check the user’s spelling, and practical cosmetic items, and so much more.

As its name suggests, these quills help the user to correct their spelling mistakes. In a world without any sort of technology, these quills are especially useful. However, their downside is that they start failing when the magic wears off, so anyone who buys it must be careful to replace it, if not, their homework will be full of mistakes.

Even though Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes Items is not the only store that provides this type of quills, it’s safe to say the Weasleys are probably one of the best ones in the market. Plus, they’re in two of the most important locations in the country: Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade.

Only some people remember that Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes have a line of products called WonderWitch, which includes a variety of cosmetic products and other things useful for witches – and probably for wizards as well. Even though there’s not a lot of description about this item, it’s probably eyelashes that last for a very long time – maybe even forever!

Everyone who loves wearing long eyelashes would agree that this product is absolutely useful. For the people who wonder about make-up and other beauty products in the magical world, they need to look no more, Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes provides for everyone’s needs.

Fred and George try a lot of their products on themselves, which causes them to get into a lot of accidents. For this reason, they created a cream that magically removes bruises in about an hour. This thick and yellow cream once helped Hermione to remove a bruise from her face after she got hit by one of the Weasleys’ jokes Boxing Telescopes.

This product is especially useful since wizards are particularly prone to accidents. Even though the magical world probably has spells that help with this kind of situation, not everyone has the skills to perform this sort of magic. The Weasleys offer a product that is accessible to all wizards and witches, no matter their age.

The Extendable Ears are a simple flesh-colored string. The user puts one of the ends in their ear and the other one in the place where the conversation they want to overhear is happening, for example, they can insert it under a door. Even though this item can be used for nefarious purposes (and the Weasleys are well known for breaking Hogwart’s rules) it can also be useful in dangerous situations.

The Extendable Ears are some of the first products Fred and George ever created, and they were very useful to the Golden Trio to overhear conversations they didn’t have to hear. However, they also used it to survive Voldemort’s reign of horror, since it allowed them to listen to dangerous people that could be close to them.

This is one of the various quills that Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes offers to their buyers. There’s not a lot of description about them, but they probably refill themselves with ink, as their name suggests. In the magical world, people usually have to refill their quills manually, so this product can save them a lot of time.

Funny enough, muggles already have a wide variety of pens that can be used like a self-inking quill, and they’re probably a lot cheaper. However, given the ignorance the wizards have about muggles, it’s good they found another way to refill their quills instantaneously.

This toy is a magical version of the common word-guessing game of the same name. What makes this version amazing is that a little wooden man is walking up the stairs to the gallows every time the players fail to guess a letter. This version of the game is so amusing that in the Nintendo DS version of the Half-Blood Prince videogame Harry even finds one for his girlfriend, Ginny Weasley.

Even though this game is not as transportable as pen and paper (or in this case quill and parchment), it’s good enough to play with some friends in the common room and not waste any ink or parchment. Plus, it makes the game way more interesting and exciting.

The Sunny Spells are part of the store’s weather-themed products. It consists of a yellow circular bottle that possibly contains spells that would allow a small space to be sunny for a certain period. Even though there are some negative opinions about Fred and George, no one can deny they’re outstandingly clever.

A product like this would allow the user to have precious minutes of the sun during a rainy day, which is incredibly useful during the rainy season. Plus, people can probably even use it inside buildings, in case they’re not able to go outside to enjoy sunny summer weather.

Even though it’s called a “moustache”, this lotion makes hair immediately grow in wherever part of the body the user rubs it. It’s supposed to be a disguise, in case someone needs to temporarily look like someone else, but it’s also useful for aesthetic purposes.

One of the reasons the Weasley products are so good is that they make accessible items for people who are not very good at performing spells. This lotion would allow the user not only to grow a mustache, but also a bear and even hair. Maybe the Weasley twins found the secret to Dumbledore’s long hair.

This is one of the most useful products that can be found in the Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes store. These pieces of clothing are infused with a protective spell, so when someone wears them, it protects them from moderate jinxes, such as the Jelly-Legs Jinx. However, it doesn’t protect against more severe curses.

Funny enough, Fred and George created the Shield Hat as a joke item. The user was supposed to challenge someone to a duel while wearing it, as a prank. However, the Ministry of Magic bought these articles from them to protect all of their employees, mostly those who didn’t know how to perform a defensive charm. The Weasley twins’ heroic traits shine even when they’re not even trying.

The Ten-Second Pimple Vanisher is a simple healing potion that can be used to heal boils, pimples, blackheads, acne, and probably other skin conditions. Fred and George probably invented it when they had to deal with boils from one of their defective products.

With this potion, people don’t have to worry anymore about waking up with a huge pimple on their faces on an important day. They can just use this product and in ten seconds the problem will be completely gone – it could even be said that it’s magical!
