God of War Ragnarök Collector's Edition Includes Mjolnir, Says Leaker

Rumors suggest that two God of War Ragnarok Collector’s Editions will include 1:1 scale replicas of Thor’s hammer Mjolnir. The hugely-anticipated title will serve as a direct follow-up to 2018’s God of War, which followed protagonists Kratos and Atreus on an epic journey through the realms of Norse mythology. The God of War Ragnarok release date sadly remains a mystery, with leaks and rumors suggesting many different release dates or delays.

As a sequel to the franchise’s 2018 installment, God of War Ragnarok will reportedly see Kratos and Atreus embark on a journey to locate Tyr, the old Norse God of War. Their quest will apparently be an attempt to stave off Ragnarok, the titular apocalyptic event fated to bring an end to the Norse world and its lineup of gods. The game will also see Kratos and Atreus face off against their former ally Freya, the All-Father Odin and the mighty Thor. The game’s version of the iconic God of Thunder will naturally wield the hammer Mjolnir, with God of War Ragnarok’s Thor actor Ryan Hurst recently recording his lines for the project.

A recent report from eXputer writer and industry insider Tom Henderson suggests that the Collector’s Edition of God of War Ragnarok will include a 1:1 scale replica of Mjolnir. Thor’s magical hammer is mentioned often in 2018’s God of War before making a dramatic appearance in a hidden cutscene at the end of the game. Henderson claims that a special Jotnar Edition of God of War Ragnarok will come with the replica hammer alongside the game itself. A pricier Collector’s Edition will also include other goodies like a map and badges. While having a physical scale replica of Mjolnir sounds amazing, this information is sadly just a rumor for now.

While the game’s release date is still uncertain, series veteran Cory Barlog recently teased that God of War Ragnarok is playable to some degree. The long-time developer directed 2007’s God of War 2 before returning to the series to direct 2018’s God of War. While Barlog will not be directing God of War Ragnarok, he will be producing the upcoming title and likely played a key role in crafting its story. If Barlog was recently able to play through the game, it seems likely that a God of War Ragnarok release date will be announced soon.

Gamers are anticipating any news about God of War Ragnarok, and an official announcement does seem imminent. Tom Henderson has teased a very exciting pair of Collector’s Editions that include 1:1 scale replicas of Mjolnir, letting players wield Thor’s hammer or complete a God of Thunder cosplay. These Collector’s Edition details are unconfirmed, however, so only time will tell whether fans actually get to wield the mighty Norse weapon.
