‘Sport’ reports that Barcelona and Chelsea will meet soon to discuss the possible transfer of Marcos Alonso.
The Catalan club want to close the deal for less than ten million euros, although the Blues are aiming to get at least 13 million euros from his sale. The situation with Cesar Azpilicueta has stalled.
Joan Laporta’s financial levers seem to be working, as Barcelona are making progress on several fronts -Raphinha, Lewandowski…- and the latest news points to the possible signings of Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta. ‘Sport’ claims that there will soon be a meeting with Chelsea in which they will try to sign Alonso for less than ten million euros.
It won’t be easy, as the English would assume his sale for around 13 euros, although, as the amounts are close, there may end up being an agreement between the parties. There is already an agreement with the player, who has agreed to commit himself for three seasons with Xavi Hernández’s side, in which he would fight to be a starter.
The situation with his teammate Azplicueta is quite different. The source mentioned in the first paragraph adds in his information that the talks for his landing at the Camp Nou have stalled. In the meantime, Thomas Tuchel has given the green light for his compatriot to return to La Liga.
Barcelona’s idea is that Marcos Alonso will be available for the team’s tour of the United States. Moreover, he is confident of getting the deal they are looking for because, after all, his contract expires next season. His experience in England’s elite could be key to Xavi’s Barça’s improvement in 22-23.
