Food Service App Jise Raises $100k for Quick Delivery

By Ashemirigwa Emmanuel

Nigerian-based food service startup, Jise, has raised $100,000 in a funding round to begin its operation in Lagos State, focusing on delivering meals to customers’ doorstep within 25 minutes.

The successful funding involved the participation of both local and foreign investors, including Backroom Capital here in Nigeria, Winston Capital in Ireland, and also a few angel investors such as the co-founder Treepz Inc, Mr Jonny Enagwolor.

Like the Doordash app of the United States and Deliveroo in Europe, the Jise food delivery app is a shared logistics platform developed to allow restaurants in Nigeria to deliver their meals in the fastest possible time effectively.

The platform also presents leverage for restaurants on independent delivery personnel, as the integrated marketplace allows for restaurants’ growth, and customers’ utmost satisfaction in service delivery.

Co-founded by Mrs Marvelous Gbenro as CEO, Mr Tokurah Majid, Mr Ibukun Olasupo, and Mr Jeremy Osazuwa Agbonze, the company was inspired by the dire need for food and groceries delivery services, especially after the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Expressing optimism over the investment and launch of the company, the investor at Winston Capital, Mr Leonard Lynch, said, “At Winston Capital, we are always looking for the best teams to invest in, and at Jise, we see it as a great opportunity to invest in a great team.

“We are delighted to continue to support the startup ecosystem in Nigeria with our second investment on the continent.

“The Jise team led by Marvelous is building the Just Eat or Doordash of Nigeria and we are excited to be part of their journey.”

With the development, Jise has reiterated its determination to improve the livelihood of its merchants, runners, and users on its marketplace by continuously offering a swift, seamless and affordable delivery service.

When it officially went live, it recorded the registration of over 40 restaurant menus on their platform first within the Lekki Phase 1 axis of Lagos.
